Today, we are delighted to unveil at ISTE 2017, ScreenBeam Classroom Commander, designed for Windows 10 and 10 S-equipped classrooms (Windows 10 S is Microsoft’s version of Windows 10 for education), our new education solution provides powerful orchestration functionality and teacher and student mobility.

In classrooms where each student is assigned a mobile device, the potential for increased engagement and learning increases dramatically. As Irwin Jacobs, a chairman for Qualcomm said, “always on, always connected mobile devices in the hands of students has the potential to dramatically improve educational outcomes.”

However, without the ability to manage those devices, students can easily become distracted and teachers lose control.

Teachers (and students) are mobile.

Instead of being tied to a computer or projector, teachers can freely display lessons from any point in the classroom, making it easier to identify issues and help off-task students refocus, without interrupting the lesson flow. No more running to a student, and then back to the computer to move onto the next point in the lesson. Students (with teacher permission) can also share work from anywhere in the classroom, or right from their desk if standing up and presenting at the front of the classroom is stressful.

Teachers are in control.

Direct from their device, ScreenBeam Classroom Commander allows teachers to monitor student screens and active applications in real-time, present their screen or give selected students the ability to present. Teachers can even blank all student screens simultaneously to gain classroom attention, and drive URL’s across all student screens. The result is students stay on task.

Interactive learning and collaboration made easy.

Powerful interactive features help to engage students and create classroom collaboration, including real-time integration of wireless touch displays, touch back support, and wireless inking (native in Microsoft programs such as Edge, OneNote, and other Windows 10 tools). Teachers can annotate comments and questions directly onto the student screen from the classroom display, and monitor each student’s progress with the ability to private message individual students or groups.

How ScreenBeam Classroom Commander works.

Using standards-based Miracast technology, it creates a dedicated point-to-point connection between the source device and display. The result is a private, in-room network in which all devices have a direct connection to the wireless display system, eliminating heavy LAN traffic, and the need to install expensive on-premise servers.

Tight integration with Office 365 and student data enables student authentication as soon as the student’s device becomes active, providing instant student rostering to save teachers time.
